Terms of Service

Last updated: May 27, 2026

Welcome to Lensia ("Company", "we", "us", or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, browser extension, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Our Services

Lensia provides AI-powered tools that help you understand and answer questions from screen captures and text, including screen-region capture, on-device text extraction, AI question answering, and a side-panel chat with conversation history and model switching. The Services are offered through our browser extension and website.

The Services are offered on a free tier and on paid Basic and Pro tiers. Current features and pricing are shown on our Pricing page. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

The Services are not designed to comply with industry-specific regulations (such as HIPAA or FERPA) and should not be used where such compliance is required.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. By using the Services, you represent that you meet these requirements and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Accounts

To use certain features you access your account by signing in with Google. Your account is personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.

  • Provide accurate information when you sign in.
  • Do not share, sell, or transfer your account or its credentials.
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

4. Payment Terms

Paid plans renew automatically. If you purchase a subscription, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis (weekly or monthly, matching the plan you select) until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details.

You may cancel at any time through the Stripe customer portal or by contacting support. Paid access continues until the end of the current billing period, after which your account reverts to the free tier. Cancel before the next billing date to avoid further charges.

Fees are non-refundable unless otherwise required by law. Refunds may be granted at our discretion; for inquiries, contact [email protected] within 7 days of a charge.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Services in any way that violates applicable law or regulation;
  • Upload or submit content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes the rights of others;
  • Circumvent, abuse, or attempt to bypass usage limits or rate limiting;
  • Share, sell, or distribute access to your account;
  • Use the Services for automated bulk processing, resale, or commercial redistribution;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Services;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Services, their servers, or infrastructure;
  • Violate the terms of any third-party platform on which you use the Services.

6. Academic Integrity

Lensia is built as a learning and study aid — to help you understand concepts, strengthen your reasoning, and learn more effectively. It is not a tool for academic dishonesty, and you agree not to use it for that purpose.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the Services complies with the academic-integrity rules, honor codes, and assessment policies of your school, instructor, institution, certification body, or employer. Many institutions prohibit or restrict the use of AI assistance on graded or evaluated work. Where such assistance is prohibited, using Lensia may constitute academic misconduct, cheating, or a violation of those rules.

In particular, you agree not to use the Services to:

  • Complete or obtain answers for exams, quizzes, tests, or assessments where outside or AI assistance is not permitted;
  • Submit AI-generated content as your own original work where doing so is prohibited or where authorship must be your own;
  • Circumvent, defeat, or interfere with proctoring, lockdown browsers, or other exam-integrity or remote-monitoring systems;
  • Complete work on behalf of another student, or have another person use your account to do so;
  • Gain an unfair advantage in admissions, licensing, professional certification, or any other evaluated process where such assistance is disallowed.

Lensia does not endorse, encourage, or condone academic dishonesty. We provide the Services for legitimate learning, research, and productivity, and how you choose to use them is your responsibility. Any consequences of misuse — including failing grades, disciplinary action, suspension, expulsion, loss of credentials, or other penalties imposed by your institution — are yours alone, and we disclaim all liability for them. AI-generated output may be incomplete or incorrect; relying on it for graded work is at your own risk.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are being used to facilitate systematic or large-scale academic misconduct or to defeat exam-integrity systems, and to cooperate with lawful requests from educational institutions, licensing bodies, or authorities.

7. Intellectual Property Rights

Our content. All software, code, design, trademarks, and other materials provided through the Services are owned by or licensed to Lensia and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to access and use the Services for lawful purposes in accordance with these Terms.

Generated content. You retain ownership of the inputs you submit and the AI-generated output you receive, and you may use, modify, and commercialize that output without attribution to Lensia, subject to these Terms and the rights of any third parties. We do not claim ownership of content generated based solely on your inputs.

8. User Inputs and Feedback

You represent that you have the legal right to submit any input you provide to the Services and that your inputs and your use of the output do not violate any law or the rights of others.

By using the Services, you grant us a non-exclusive license to process and use your inputs and content to operate, provide, and improve the Services, including internal research and the evaluation and improvement of our features and AI model routing, as described in our Privacy Policy.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use that feedback for any purpose without compensation or obligation to you.

9. Disclaimer

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. Content generated by the Services is for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional advice. We do not warrant that the Services will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted, or be error-free, and we do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated output or text extraction. The Services rely on third-party AI providers, and we do not warrant their availability, accuracy, or continued compatibility. You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of any output before relying on it.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LENSIA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, OR DATA, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICES.

In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the amount you paid us for the Services in the six months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lensia and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Services, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any academic-integrity or institutional policy, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Services at our discretion if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent, illegal, or abusive activity, or fail to pay subscription fees — and otherwise with notice. Termination may occur without prior notice where fraudulent or abusive behavior is detected. You may terminate your account at any time by cancelling your subscription and contacting us to delete your data. The following sections survive termination: Intellectual Property Rights (7), User Inputs and Feedback (8), Disclaimer (9), Limitation of Liability (10), Indemnification (11), Governing Law and Dispute Resolution (13), and Miscellaneous (14).

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Governing jurisdiction — e.g., the State of ___, United States], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will be resolved in the courts located in that jurisdiction, and you consent to their personal jurisdiction, except where applicable law grants you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.

14. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lensia regarding the Services and supersede any prior agreements.

15. Privacy

Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Services, you agree to both these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

16. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date, and we will notify you of material changes. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
